A letter written to Judie B. Clark of the North Carolina Medical Board by a patient of Dr. Wang.

April 28, 2009

Dear Ms. Clark,

It affords me the greatest pleasure to send this note to you on behalf of Dr. Hao Wang. I'm contacting you immediately because of the experience I have had.

I was nearly bed ridden for two years and because of this gentleman, I can now stand up straight and am actually learning to walk again. He works with honor and dignity and is such an asset to his profession. He changed my life and how does one ever truly say "thank you" for that? I just can't begin to express my thanks enough to Dr. Wang for his care and compassion.

Please see that a copy of this goes in his permanent file and I would appreciate a copy being sent to Dr. Wang's office in Greensboro, North Carolina as well.

At the risk of sounding childish when this is such a serious matter, I have to say he was my "London Bridge" as I have truly fallen down! We are blessed to have Dr. Wang in the medical profession in North Carolina.

Most Sincerely,

Mary Darden Miller

I have learned a tremendous amount of info in this affiliation, both orthopedic related as well as life long clinical tips that will be useful throughout my PT career. I have had the pleasure of working with a variety of informed professionals from PT’s with specializations (hand therapy, Mckenzie technique), PTA’s, ATC’s, PT aids and many with duel degrees. I was offered a new positive point of view on the chiropractic practice as well as acupuncture and the benefits of co-treatment with physical therapy. I also learned about the industrial rehabilitation program offered through Guilford Orthopaedic that would be an asset to any physical therapy practice, and all of this is under one roof.

I started this rotation wanting to work in a different PT setting, but after being inspired by intellectual conversations with the staff, learning from and working with my clinical instructor, who is as evidence based with his style of practice as I was taught to be, adding a substantial amount of manual techniques to my clinical toolbox and having the opportunity to talk to high school students about the PT profession, I might consider working in the orthopedic setting upon graduation in May 2009.

This rotation taught me that in order to build confidence as a practicing clinician you must be competent as a practicing clinician. That goal was achieved in my 10 weeks spent here. If I didn’t adore New York, Guilford Orthopaedic’s would be the place for me.  Joia DeBerry, Sacred Heart University Student

I need to give a big thank You to Guilford Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine Center.  Dr. Paul and his staff worked so diligently on getting me back on the road to recovery.  I first visited Dr. Paul and he told me they would do everything possible to help me get my life back to as close to normal as possible.  I then saw Dr. Wang and went through some procedures to determine my condition.  My condition was an L5/S1 disc that had went south on me due to an on the job accident.  I was referred to Dr. Tooke (as all of these doctors are within the same facility).  After long discussions Dr. Tooke and I decided that due to my age and to the benefit of my health the ProDisc procedure would be the best route to go.  I am so glad to say that the ProDisc procedure has been a success.

Thanks to the physical therapy department as well.  They have worked with me in helping me achieve the goals Dr. Tooke and I have hoped for.  Thank you Dr. Tooke and all the staff at Guilford Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Center for what you have done for me and my family.

I hope many more will come to learn more about the ProDisc and have the success that I have had.  I cannot say enough about this ProDisc procedure.  I am thankful that Dr. Tooke took time out of his life to learn this procedure.  I feel strongly that this procedure will change the future of back issues and give a more normal life to many in the future… Thank You”  Gray Hucks (Truck Driver)

“Goria Enterprises wanted to move from being re-active to being pro-active with our safety program.  The work you have done for us so far has us moving in the right direction…. Since we began working together in January 2007, the Vault Delivery employees have not had any injuries. Obviously we are pleased with these results and consider the work you did to be a big part of that…. I look forward to maintaining and adding to the work we have done with our Vault Delivery employees as well as looking at some of the other employee populations.” - Doug Fouts – Environmental Health and Safety Director, Goria Enterprises

SoccerOP's own, Scott Wollaston, experienced success with his physical therapy after tearing his anterior cruciate ligament in his knee.

"Being my fourth time that I've torn my ACL, I knew the importance of physical therapy after surgery, and Guilford Orthopaedic came highly recommended from an acquaintance in the Greensboro area.  I was definitely not disappointed!  I received individual attention from Joe Mullins, who really pushed me to rehab properly, and helped me do the things that would prevent me from getting hurt again in the future.  I was running and teaching soccer again faster than after any of my previous surgeries.  I would not hesitate to recommend Guilford Orthopaedic to anyone."

Jacquie Gaspard is a physical therapy student from Boston University . Her 8 week clinical rotation in her words is described below.

Everything about my clinical experience at Guilford Orthopedics was above and beyond my expectations. During my affiliation I was able to work with a variety of different Physical Therapists, Physical Therapist Assistants, Athletic Trainers and Occupational Therapists. Guilford offers several different aspects of physical therapy and other health care professions under one roof. I worked with different staff members in their specialized fields, including pediatrics, sports medicine, hand therapy and spinal evaluation. I was able to attend pool therapy, work conditioning, and functional capacity evaluations during my experience. I also assisted in outreach programs to high school sports teams, injury screening at local gyms and volunteer work.

I learned a great deal from all the staff during my experience. Everyone at Guilford worked together as a team. There is a continual effort by the entire staff to stay up to date with contemporary research and innovative ideas. The staff has an ongoing communication with their co-workers and physicians to ensure that their patients are receiving the best care possible. At Guilford , I was able to interact with the staff and physicians on a daily basis and acquire a wealth of knowledge from each person. I was given the freedom to evaluate and treat patients independently, as well as co-treat some very interesting cases with my clinical instructors.

I was extremely satisfied with my clinical experience at Guilford Orthopedics. I was not only able to increase my knowledge and improve my skills as a physical therapist, but I gained mentors that I will continue to seek advice from throughout my career.
